What it checks, exactly
Only things that can be proved by reading the file and comparing them with Amazon's published limits:
Real page count. Not what your word processor says: what the PDF you are about to upload actually has.
Real page size. If the file measures 8.27 × 11.69 in and you pick 6 × 9 in KDP, the file gets rejected. If you exported with bleed, this figure is your trim size plus 0.125 in on three sides — that's expected, not an error.
Mixed page sizes, a quiet and common cause of rejection when documents from different sources get merged.
Whether it fits each format: paperback in black and white, standard colour, premium colour, and hardcover. Each has its own minimum and maximum page count.
KDP's page limits
Each format takes a different range. A manuscript can fit one and fall outside another:
Paperback B&W: 24 to 828 pages.
Paperback standard colour: 72 to 600.
Paperback premium colour: 24 to 828.
Hardcover B&W and premium colour: 75 to 550.
If you upload a .docx instead of a PDF
You will see the word count and whether your document uses real Heading styles — which is what KDP needs to build the ebook's table of contents. What you will not see is a page count, and it is worth saying why: a .docx has no fixed pages. They depend on the trim size, the typography and the margins you choose when exporting. Any tool that gives you a page count from a .docx is giving you an estimate, not a fact.
What it does not check

It does not look at bleed, embedded fonts or image resolution. Those are real causes of rejection, but they need PDF analysis this tool does not do. Passing here does not guarantee KDP will accept it.
